Here it is folks! Hello and welcome to The One Million Subscriber Special! Let me take another opportunity to say thank you once more for helping me to reach such an incredible milestone. I doubt that I’ll ever be able to repay the debt that I owe to each of you, but hopefully this video goes some way to making that gesture.

Now if you’re thinking of commenting, I’d appreciate it if you’d take a few seconds to read through a few points I’d like to make, since I know that as always there are likely to be plenty of people with questions. As well as some who may be disappointed, upset or just unhappy with what I did to mark the occasion.

First, just bear in mind that this being a one million subscriber land mark video; the hype that comes with that notion means it was always likely to underwhelm people to some degree. What I wanted to do was to explore something I’d never done before, which I thought would engage as many people as possible and make for an entertaining video.

Second, to the people who are disappointed that it’s not ‘The One Million Calorie Challenge’, ‘200,000 Calorie Challenge’ or even a reattempt of The 100,000 Calorie Challenge in 100 hours that I tried all those years ago. Please try to consider that if like me you make YouTube videos for over five years, not only does the type of content you make change, but your mentality and responsibilities change too.

One of the reasons I very rarely do ‘cheat days’ or ‘calorie challenges’ these days is because, quite simply, I don’t enjoy them. They’ve been done to death. I find them difficult to appreciate, and as a result difficult to turn into a cohesive, entertaining video which people can have fun watching. That being said, people often ask for them, so I try to do them from time to time for special occasions etc. but never at the expense of other videos I have planned. Moreover, with time not only has my content changed, my personal and professional responsibilities have too. So whereas many years ago I could dedicate 100 hours of filming and just as many in editing to one video, now I simply can’t given what I have to do in my day to day life as a 35 year old.

Finally, whether you enjoy the video or hate it. At the very least, please accept that the idea I came up with and tried to execute was born out of the desire to do something most people would enjoy. That is to say, something which involves the subscribers that got me to where I am. So whether you like or loath it; know that I did my best and with the best intentions. Of course there are things I would change to improve it, but again keep in mind that filming something this ambitious, as a one man band with no filming crew etc. is no easy task. Especially when so much of the concept of the video is outside of the creator’s control.

As I mentioned at the end of the video, I’m taking a week off now. Doing what I do, and doing it in a way different to which many other similar creators do it, is of course very physically demanding. And I promised myself some time ago a week off to rest, rejuvenate and of course plan for future. So there’ll be no mid-week video, but you can rest assured I’ve got something for you this time next Sunday at 7pm BST as always.

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS & ADDITIONAL INFO:

Q: How come you don’t get fat?
A: I eat like this for 1 hour of a 168 hour long week. In simple terms, I eat at caloric maintenance over the course of time, meaning I don’t gain weight. If you’re interested in learning more, see the ‘It Was Just A Normal Day…’ video.

Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.
