Isaac Baruch, who had known Depp since they were teenagers growing up in Florida and was characterized as his best buddy, testified in court. Baruch then relocated to California, where he worked as a singer, artist, and office manager at Depp's infamous Viper Room nightclub in Los Angeles. Depp adored his artwork so much, according to Baruch, that he let him live rent-free in a penthouse apartment he owned in the Eastern Columbia Building for more than three years and paid him about $100,000.
