As it happens I recently finished reading the book series. Not sure it needed to be made into a TV series… the books are incredibly dated, and IMO best left as an interesting relic of their time. They really don't have a structure or plot that makes them at all suitable for TV. If this is going to be any good, they'll have to make some sweeping changes, which I guess will annoy hardcore fans of the books.

Richard Wilkinson says:

Please please PLEASE don't screw this up Apple!

havocgr1976 says:

FFS dont compare your greedy corporation to Asimov ;p I am sure in every apple store they rescue puppies everyday and give trucks of food to homeless people lol

Mau Vasconcellos says:

Stop putting a trailer before the trailer!

Loquification says:

Apple? Improving lives? This feels like a betrayal of Asimov's vision.

KRYPTON

Blottingpaper says:

Fucking shilling for apple into the intro.

Kristoffe Brodeur says:

looks good, but it will probably suck. I'll still try it out. Also, fuck Apple.

Fil Arkonus says:

So this a prequel then? Lame. I want to see the actual Foundation(s) and I want the Damn Mule. This looks like more Picard style misery porn. They didn't even show Trantor or they did and forgot it was meant to be a Coruscant like city planet (or rather Coruscant is Trantor like). I'm disappointed. The funny thing as well is the actual Foundation series, the original one is actually a very hopefully journey (even though it starts with the fall of an empire). This looks like the same generic dystopian sci-fi we are getting everywhere these days.

Alberto Navarro says:

Looks more like "prelude to foundation" i hope they do span the series across generations and not just specific characters through the whole series

nubianfx says:

Jared Harris and Lee Pace? Say no more.

agett12 says:

FOUNDATION?!!!!!!!! Darn it now I'll have to get Apple+

Askar Kalykov says:

This better be good. Foundation has fans among many publicly exposed scientists who host channels and shows. Very risky project, but it will be huge success if Apple pulls this one out.

Daniel Fernández says:

Oh my gosh.

Nacho Canobbi says:

Why Gaal Dornick and Salvor Hardin are… women?

I wrote a small synopsis what this is about (if they follow the books):

The series (or books) span a 1000 year period during which the galactic
empire (spanning entire galaxy with over 25 000 000 inhabited planets)
is decaying and falling a part.. the galaxy will spiral into chaos as
the Empire starts to crumble. Hari Sheldon is a mathematician who has
developed a statistical theory called "psychohistory" that can predict
the future in large scale. Meaning the theory cannot predict whether it
will rain tomorrow outside your house, but it can predict (with
remarkable accuracy) the future of a civilization or a large group of
people for centuries before it all happens. The fall of the empire is
inevitable according to the theory and it cannot be saved.. so Sheldon
(with the help of others) decide to embark on a 1000 year journey to
create the Foundation (a new empire, sort of…) that will come after
the fall of the current galactic empire. If something like this is not
tried.. the chaotic times and barbarism in the galaxy will reign for
possibly thousands and thousands of years before some sort of order can
be restored. The Foundation is the plan/organization to shorten this
chaotic timespan as much as possible and restore order the galaxy as
soon as possible (minimum 1000 years) … however no plan ever is
perfect…
